Ho Ho Ho! Congrats Erielle, for winning yesterday’s prize, a polawalk through Vienna, a polaroid camera and a messenger bag with an awesome map-print!
We’re honing in fast to the big day, so we’re bringing you yet another giveaway! The festive period is so fun with plenty of food and drink to be had, presents to give, family to visit and general merriment filling up your days. So much fun… but hands up who’s pretty exhausted by the end of it? I know I am, and the beginning of the new year is predominantly time for some serious recovery. And what could be better than heading out into the beautiful Bavarian countryside for some serious rest and recuperation?
Today, we’re offering the ultimate prize for those who need to unwind after the Christmas chaos. We’ve teamed up with Green Pearls, where you can find incredibly unique places to stay, and they have offered one of our travelettes community a two night getaway for two people in Haidl-Madl, Germany. Haidl-Madl is nestled in the stunning Lower Bavaria in southeastern Germany and is a serene farmstead that offers countryside explorations and historic accommodation.
Haidl-Madl is a property that is about 300 years old and has been lovingly restored to include modern architecture within the old walls. It was a grand farm house back in the 17th Century and only stopped being a farm about 20 years ago. In 1970, they began to allow visitors to stay to enjoy this serene lifestyle and now three parts of the house have been reconstructed into quaint apartments. One of these unique apartments include Alte Liebe, which is where you could be checking into! It’s designed beautifully and includes a living and dining room, with a sofa and kitchenette.
When it was restored, much attention was paid to ensure that the historical nature of the building was preserved, yet also supplements with contemporary ecological designs and high-quality designer furniture. You’ll have views over the endless forests to Bohemia and you can experience peace in nature to the max. If you love a hike, then you’ll love the Bavarian Forest. Explore the marshes, forests, national parks and the mountains. See what you can get up to in this region and plan a getaway of relaxation and peace!
If you choose to go in summer, you can explore the large original garden, the 6 hectares of land and relax on hammocks; or go in the winter where you can go cross-country skiing on the many trails. There’s a nearby ski lift which you can also use in the cold months – get stuck into this winter wonderland! Reconnecting with nature is a top priority for those who can sometimes get too weighed down by routine (or festive shenanigans), so take a break in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
If you win today’s prize, not only will you be able to bring your partner in crime for two nights, but you will also get breakfast as well. A breakfast bag of groceries and fresh bread will be brought over, and sometimes the hostess can cook dinner for you on request. At Haidl-Madl, they have a high appreciation for regional and seasonal food – they grow plenty of veggies in their garden and support organic farming on their land. Haidl-Madl is a lifestyle of green-thinking and luxurious simplicity.

Sophie Saint was one of the original travelettes, from 2009 – 2017. After fleeing the UK with ink barely dry on her graduation certificate, she traversed the world with a backpack and spent a few years living in Melbourne – one of her favourite cities in the world.
She finally returned to the UK after a few years where she now whiles time away zipping off for European escapes, crocheting and daydreaming of owning her own hostel somewhere hot to live out eternal summers. See what she’s up to over on her blog saintsonaplane.com and instagram: @saintsonaplane
