It must be something to do with winter, but recently I have been obsessing over home and design blogs, saving lots of articles and pictures as inspiration for my own living quarter.

The other day I came across an idea presented by apartment therapy which I instantly fell in love with, a true deco gem for any travelette. Using old suitcases as storage space is an easy, effective and inexpensive way to add lovely character and originality to your apartment. I think this is a lovely idea for travel lovers and I can assure you that my eyes are wide open to find only the finest vintage suitcases to build a pyramid like this one in my living room or hallway.

Much nicer than some old bedside table from Ikea is this option:

Simply take 2 or 3 small suitcases, paint them in a color that works well with your bedroom and you have an adorable new storage option for books and things you need.

If your live in a very small space without a basement, you might be looking to find a nice way of storing  the suitcases you actually use for traveling. Here, someome found such a solution by, again, simply using them as a nightstand.

I’ve also loved this idea to use a stack of suitcases below a board:

Inventive, colorful and very simple to do.

If you like the idea of finding new ways to old suitcases, also check marlen’s article on the various double uses of suitcases.

Happy decorating!
