What is your favorite part of traveling? Lounging by the beach? Sleeping in at a wonderful hotel? Eating fresh seafood with your feet in the sand? I’m sure if you’ve made it to this website you appreciate all these things but there is one aspect of traveling that I find especially noteworthy – it is meeting new people. Sure, we meet people all the time. At parties, at work, through mutual friends. But while traveling it is different. The people we meet here often come from very different backgrounds, speak different languages and are people we might not ordinarily meet. While traveling you share a commonality with other travelers and that is, well, travel. You both made it to the same place at the same time and that is one great starting ground.

As much as we love intercultural communication, we love devices that make communication easy. Smartphones especially. They come in handy to let us look up translations, let us capture visual memories with the people we meet and help us keep in touch with them. Via phone, text, whatsapp, facebook, you name it. Luckily we live in a world where keeping in touch with new acquaintances is easy and as you grow older, your list of friends around the world grows longer. It’s that idea of communicating with strangers, that Huawei has used as the central theme for their new campaign. A group of people were asked: If you could tell a stranger anything, what would you say? These are their answers….

What would you tell someone on the other side of the planet?
