Anyone, who has ever travelled, will know: travel is addictive! Once you have ventured out into the wild, whether it was a simple weekend trip to the countryside or a 12-month round-the-world journey, you might never be able to fully recover from the adrenalin and endorphin rushes that travel gives you. There is a huge chance that you are already helplessly hooked.
Luckily, being addicted to travel is not a bad thing at all- but maybe that is the addict in me speaking… Either way, here are 33 symptoms, sorry, SIGNSÂ that show that you are addicted to travel.
1. You know your passport number by heart, but not your phone number.
2. Your passport has extra pages added at the end.
3. Your phone is certainly not sim-locked and you own a variety of foreign pre-paid sim cards. (that is also why you don’t know your phone number…)
4. You have all your favorite bathroom products in normal size and carry-on travel containers.
5. You carry a little pouch with these travel-sized products with you at all times, so you are always ready to go.
6. You subscribe to a gazillion of newsletters to keep you up-to-date with holiday, flight and hotel deals.
7. You dreamt up and dream-planned at least one trip last weekend. Where to?
8. Your bucket list does not just span across an A4 page, but fills an entire notebook.
9. Your daily reading lists contains Travelettes, As the Bird Flies, Saints on a Plane, Midnightblue Elephant, Pin the Map Project and many more great travel blogs.
10. Your favorite movies are all set in a foreign place (which you obviously want to visit one day).
11. You randomly reply to questions in foreign languages - por qué no?
12. You’re the one that everyone wants on their team during the travel round in pub quizzes.
13. Postcards and novelty magnets have taken over your fridge door.
14. Even your grandparents have learned how to use Skype so they can stay in touch with you.
15. You know the schedule of your city’s airport bus/train by heart, or have you taxi driver’s private phone number on speed dial.
16. You have more suitcases, weekend bags and backpacks than anyone else you know – and they are all lined with sand.
17. Some mornings, you wake up in your own bed and wonder where the h* you are…
18. You can sleep anywhere.
19. You carry at least two foreign currencies in your purse – yes, those coins are still there!
20. Your currency are flight prices… these shoes cost half a flight to Bangkok.
21. Your bank is not concerned when they see charges from the most remote areas on your account.
22. You joined the mile programmes of every airline you have ever flown with – and a few more, just in case.
23. You have, or think about getting a travel-themed tattoo.
24. Your feet have permanent sandal tan lines.
25. You can guess which city it is from an aerial shot.
26. You have a favorite airport for layovers – and of course a least favorite one as well.
27. You can guess the weight of your luggage, correctly to the gram.
28. You can pack in less than 10 minutes and don’t forget anything.
29. You call ‘home’ to 3 or more cities in the world.
30. Even at home you still ‘travel’ by hosting CouchSurfers from different countries around the globe.
31. Your cooking book selection is a collection of hand-scribbled recipes on paper slips which you collected from locals around the world – that way you can cook up a foreign storm in your kitchen at any time.
32. You refrain from ever investing in furniture because who knows how long you’ll be in one place?
33. By the time you come home, you have already started planning the next three trips.
So, are you addicted to travel?
