Finding reasons to go to Scotland is not hard at all. Be it for the natural beauty of the Western Isles, a monster hunt in the Highlands, the almost-tropical beaches of the Outer Hebrides, the medieval Old Town of Edinburgh or the thriving art and design scenes of Glasgow or Dundee – Scotland is definitely worth a top spot on your bucket list. Whenever I’m setting my head on a new destination, I tend to turn to Instagram and see what there is to do and see there. I could browse the awe-inspiring images for hours and hours. If you are not sure yet about Scotland – then these ten instagrammers might help you to overcome your apprehension and plan a trip to meet Nessie & co up north.

Just in case you were not convinced you had to go to Scotland yet, these 10 ladies on Instagram should make you get your credit card out!

1. Kirsty Turner

I always wonder why some accounts accumulate thousands and thousands of followers, while other just as beautiful ones go relatively unnoticed – at least compared to those super influencers. @kirstyaturner shares beautiful landscape photos from all over Scotland – she doesn’t post often, but when she does make sure you handle your credit card responsibly!

2. LARETOUR

It’s no secret that Edinburgh is a dreamland city, but hardly anybody captures its quaintness and beauty as gorgeously as travel blogger Laura from @LARETOUR. No wonder her photos are frequently featured on Visit Scotland and Visit Great Britain’s accounts!

3. Adventures Around Scotland

I stumbled upon Susanne Arbuckle’s account @adventuresaroundscotland last summer, when she buckled up for her #ScotCoast trip – a six week solo trip along the coast of mainland Scotland. While my dreams of a similar journey are still forming (check out my Scotland bucket list) Susanne just went and did it all – and I love following her adventures ever since!

4. Eilidh Cameron

I’m not surprised Eilidh Cameron is a travel ambassador for Visit Scotland – her photos are simply mind-boggling! Whether you’re into reflections of medieval castles in mirror-like lakes, sunsets over the Scottish hills or starry skies in the blackest of nights, @eilidh_cameron is an account you should follow!

5. Film Flook

I love following Sarah’s stories on @film_flook because she delivers what her name suggests: film photography only. In times of digital photography it is so easy to forget how much work and effort goes into the perfect shot – if you only have one chance to capture the moment.

6. Vivian Ross-Smith

I met Vivian in her studio on mainland Shetland some months ago, and have followed her photos on @vrosssmith ever since. You see, Vivian is a visual artist who creates beautiful sculptural paintings – but she is also a great photographer. In an interview she told me that she tends to take her inspiration for motifs and materials from her walks around the Shetland Islands, and my Instagram feed is all the better for it.

8. Stacey Smith

No one takes photos of the forest like Stacey Smith. Of course, trees and forests are not the only motif she shares on @stacy__j__smith, there are also plenty of images of Glasgow, hills and seaside towns.

9. Lucy Hamilton

Oban has always been one of my favourite coastal towns in Scotland, so following Lucy Hamilton’s account @loosemooose is a no brainer!

10. Watch Me See

What would this list be without inviting you follow my own little account @watchmesee. I have fallen hopelessly for Scotland and I don’t intend to leave any time soon. Which is why I’d love you to check out my photos and let me convince you of the charms of Glasgow and my other favourite places around the country.
