As a graphic designer you can guess I am (at least a bit) into typography. I recently discovered an interesting mapping project, made by axis maps. They used hand-placed type to create two maps, one of Boston and one of downtown Chicago and I think they came out beautifully. I can only imagine how many hours it would have taken to accurately depict the streets and highways, parks, neighborhoods, coastlines, and physical features of the city using nothing but type. Learn more about the project on their blog or purchase a map here.
