The best city timelapse videos from around the world
The world keeps turning, the trees keep growing, the city lights keep shining bright and someone, somewhere may be shooting a timelapse video of it all.
Just under a year ago I picked up a semi-decent camera for the first time and I made a commitment to improve my photography and so far I’m happy with the results of this relationship. However, I know I have so much more to learn and one of the beautiful ways that I’m reminded of this is watching timelapse videos. For me, they capture a place in greater depth than a normal video recording, and of course they offer up more than the average photograph because you are looking on not just one moment in time but many. I’m also in awe because I don’t have the first clue about how to start making one… and just when I thought I was beginning to get the hang of this photography game.
Arguably my favourite time lapses are of cities. I love watching the movement of people and cars and the changes in light as night falls yet the energy and activity stay the same if not increase. We’ve collated five of the best city time lapse videos out there so please sit back, relax and get lost in these many beautiful moments from these wonderful cities.
NYC – Manhattan in Motion by Mindrelic.
Osaka in Timelapse by Holger Mette.
Venice in a Day by Joerg Niggli.
You’ve Got To Love London by Alex Silver.

Metropolis – A New York City Timelapse (http://vimeo.com/30316012)
To me, this is the best ever NY timelapse video. Love the concept and the music goes perfectly along with it.
