Say, you decided to hit the road. Say, you bought a plane ticket. Say, you still have to wait for two looooong months till the Big Day of Departure finally arrives. Girl, it’s time to get yourself some popcorn, your favourite Ben & Jerry’s Ice-Cream (Cookie Dough, anyone?) and then work off this list of great travel movies.
Easily one if the best travel movies ever made. Into the wild is the true story of a young lad going out to find his freedom and see America. A fantastic road movie without a Hollywood ending. (see Katjas’ recommendation)
2. The Beach
Evene though the crew behind The Beach pretty much ruined this gorgeous untouched beach, the movie is still a great testimony on the bauty of Thailand. If you’re going to Thailand, this movie is a must-see, for it is stuffed with great music, beautiful locations and the sweet taste of getting off the beaten track.

If you have never been to India, this movie gives a pretty sweet clue into what India is like. Dusty, a little unorganized with some funny people in it. And it is mostly set on a train, accurate again, since most people traveling through India spend days on end on the train, going through that vast country.
A much less glamorous, but still very accurate side of India is portrayed in this Oscar-winning movie. Moving, insightful and optimistic. A great film experience and probably an eye-opener to the sometimes harsh reality of India.
