Nina’s 5 countries through Instagram
It’s not a secret that us Travelettes are addicted to photo sharing app Instagram big time. You already saw Katja’s, Frankie’s and Yvonne’s favourite travel shots through the lens of their smart phones and now it’s my turn. Since joining the Instagram community just over a year ago, I’ve already collected over 800 photos from around 10 different countries, so it was pretty difficult to pick my favourites and go down memory lane, reminiscing all those gorgeous trips.
1. Trøndelag, Norway
Last year in May I went on my very first trip to Scandinavia. Trøndelag in Norway was the destination and I fell in love with both the beautiful old houses also as the stunning landscape around the island Hitra, were we went fishing. From all that I’ve seen of Scandinavia so far, I seriously cannot wait to discover Sweden very soon.
When I quit my full time job last summer, I celebrated my newly acquired freedom with one of my best friends Luisa and her Volvo William by going on a road trip through England. The UK’s historical places like Glastonbury and the fairytale landscape ito be found in the Lake District totally made up for sleeping in a car and washing my hair on the side of the road for 2 consecutive weeks.
3. Majorca, Spain
Although Majorca can get quite a bad reputation in Germany at times, I really consider it my second home. Together with my parents I’ve been visiting my favourite town Santanyi at least once a year over the last 15 years and I know every little corner like the back of my hand. Last year in October I headed back with my mum and my iPhone to document our free weekend with a lot of sun and Mediterranean food.
4. Budapest, Hungary
When my friend Maja told me she’d move to Budapest for a while paying her a visit was a no brainer. Even though Cheryl already gave us her 5 reasons to go to Budapest on here, I really didn’t know what to expect from the Hungarian capital and I was blown away! Good food (Langos!), cute little designer shops everywhere and cocktails at the thermal baths made it hard for me to leave after 5 days there.
5. Berlin, Germany
Berlin? Ok I snuck that one in there, since I live here of course, so it’s not a proper travel destination of mine? With that said, I do love going on little excursions in and around the city, always discovering something new, even after almost 2 years of residence here. Parks, lakes, abandoned houses, street festivals, flea markets, boat trips… you get the idea.
