Close your eyes and imagine yourself rolling through nature, metropolitan cities or along a coastal walk – but not by car, not by bike, nor by scooter… no, you are on your longboard listening to music and just enjoy exploring the area in a different way. That’s what I just imagine writing this article. I became a big fan of longboarding two years ago and just love every second I spend cruising around with my board. Longboarding is easier than riding a skateboard, as it is gives you more balance when making turns. Plus, it is a great way to get around the city.

The Longboard Girls Crew, created by a couple of girls, believed that longboarding is not just a sport for boys and founded a longboarding community where international girls could feel the vibe of skating together. In order to help passionate skater girls to come together, they created a supportive community platform, where girls can plan longboarding meetings, share photos, stories and tips. Nowadays, more and more girls get into skating and even practice it on a professional level. The Longboard Girls Crew wanted to help and support these girls in order to ‘fight’ against the existing gender stereotypes in the skating scene. Check out their webpage here.

Today they call out the Push Don’t Pollute Cruise Around the World in order to raise awareness of the International Environment Day. Girls from around the world are encouraged to get together and cruise through nature to honor this day and show respect for nature. Cruises are organized in Zagreb (Croatia), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Madrid, Murcia, Barcelona, Santander, Zaragoza (Spain), Bogotá (Colombia), as well as in Italy, Singapore, Peru and the Netherlands. Check this page for more specific dates and information. Even if there isn’t a big cruise in your city, why not just get some friends together and plan a trip with your longboard  in nature on your own?!
