Traveling can be as scary as it is exciting, and even more so as a woman. When you think of taking that step and leaving the known for the unknown for the first time, I’m sure a lot of different questions flash through your mind. Where to even begin?
It’s a lot. I know. I’ve been there. I’ve chased my thoughts all around my head in circles worrying about what to worry about. But guess what… I didn’t let my doubts stop me, and I am so happy I took that first plunge, bought that ticket, and took off. Travel has changed me immensely, and I am so grateful for the experiences I have had. I’ve discovered things about myself and about the world that I knew nothing about before I left my comfort zone. And I’ve also realized the things I love in life are made more real and poignant when I get to share them with others.
In that spirit I was so honored when I was asked to be part of the discussion panel for the upcoming Travel Tips Workshop: Women Traveling Solo, put on by my local branch of Hosteling International. The panel will feature female travelers and travel bloggers (like me!) from the around the Bay Area. This event is designed for solo travelers of all ages who are planning to travel by themselves for the first time, or who are looking for smart tips on how to add more value and independence to their travel adventures. The content of the panel will include how to stay safe while traveling solo, how to travel on a budget, how to travel responsibly, what to pack, and more.
If you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, have questions about traveling alone or at all, are an experienced traveler and want to share your knowledge, or just want to drink some free beer and say hi to me, then come on out!
The event is totally free and takes place on June 7th from 6-8pm at the Bryant Street Sports Basement. It was an honor for me to be asked to be a part of it, and I would be delighted if you could attend. Reserve your space here or just show up.
