Barcelona

I’ve been following @nicnorgacia for nearly two years and every time I see a photo of his on Instagram I think, I must share his amazing photos with the Travelettes readers.
So finally that’s what I’m doing.
Hey, you can’t say I’m not diligent at keeping my promises. I’m just not very prompt at doing so.
Here are five reasons why I love Mr Nicanor García’s photos.
1.  Lines, lines, lines! They always match up. …

There are a few good reasons why I view Barcelona through heart-shaped glasses. For starters, the inspiring architecture, and romantic balconies mean this city’s first impressions are pretty darn fine. I’m also a sucker for the shady squares filled with countless bars and restaurants that charm you into lingering afternoons of cava-sipping. The outdoor markets, quirky shops and street performers always tempt me to wander until I’m thoroughly lost. And …

Spain’s economy isn’t exactly thriving at the moment. In fact, its unemployment rate for under 25 year-old’s is at a staggering 54% (!) (the overall employment rate lying at 25%) which beats most other European countries. So that’s not a very tempting climate to take risks and turn your biggest passion into a job, right? Except that, for Silvia Cabra, it is. Silvia and her boyfriend, Javi Ruz, showed some …

Romantic streets, perfect wine, intricate alley-ways, delicious ice cream, stunning gothic architecture, ridiculously fabulous food… have I got your attention? Good. The sun has recently peeped out for us in the UK, and it has given us the taste of summer’s excitement… and we want more. I’ve been hearing many friends begin planning European getaways and where better than the dreamy city of Barcelona? In my eyes, it’s one of …

Barcelona is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, there’s no question about that. Architecture, bubbly nightlife, sunshine, narrow streets, Gaudi, sangria and variety of cultures make this marvelous city unique and exiting. There are many gems to be found here simply by walking around – cafes, restaurants and of course shops.

In the heart of a never sleeping area called Raval, Barcelona hides one of the loveliest gift …

As a seasoned traveller often great museums and tasty food as recommended by my guidebook no longer cut it. What I am looking out for is authentic experiences to allow me to see a country through the eyes of a local so I can leave with a greater understanding and appreciation for the place I’ve called home for a few hours, days or weeks.
On a recent trip to Barcelona I …

Spaniards beware – a Brit is about to share with you a recipe for paella and if by the end of this you are left fuming and culturally outraged then please share with us below your secret family recipes! But in my defence (here I am apologising before I’ve even mentioned the word rice) I am a big paella lover who has eaten her fair share, and if I’m honest …

Isn’t it nice when your expectations are exceeded? No. It’s not nice. It’s Wonderful. Wonderful with a capital W for W Hotels. Such was the case from the moment I checked in at W Barcelona until the second I left begrudgingly pulling my case behind me through a lobby decorated with reflective disco ball style walls.
This was my first experience of W Hotels, a brand owned by international hotel giant, …

Italians are known for their fabulous shoes, French women for their elegance, and who can forget about the fantastic royal wedding dress of English princess Kate earlier this year? Different countries as well as time periods are associated with different styles and fashions. I can spend way too much time looking at my favorite streetstyle blogs from around the world or admiring the costumes of the actors in old movies, …

Mojitos are good. And I already told you about my personal favourite Mojito bar in Barcelona. But: I recently came across a very cool tumblr blog which judges Mojitos all around that wonderful city. Mojitos en Barcelona contuinously adds more and more bars and their Mojitos, including a five star rating system, the price and address. Salut!

If you are not a mojito lover, but you like spanish fries, there is …
