Just a few days into my trip to Mexico, I decided to fly to Cancun, from where I would be heading south to Playa del Carmen, a lovely, yet touristy little town right by the lovely Caribbean ocean. From Guatemala, our bus ride continued to Belize. As soon as we crossed the border we were in a completely different world: People were Black, not Latinos anymore, they all had dreadlocks and smoked cigarillos. Wooden Houses everywhere, crowded streets with people on low-seated bikes. Spanish language was replaced by Caribbean English.
