10,000 free flights to Japan
10,000 tourists can get their trip of a lifetime, for free! The Japanese National Tourist Organization have announced that they intend to give away 10,000 free flights to Japan in order to give new strenght to the tourism industry in the country. After the tsunami, earthquake and following nuclear disaster in Fukushima this spring, tourists practically fled the country, and this give-away could be just what Japan needs to get its tourist industry back on track.

You cannot apply for the free tickets yet, but keep an eye out on the Japanese tourist board site (which is currently running pretty slow, probably because of the news of the give-away). Of course Travelettes will also keep you posted on facebook and twitter as soon as they open for applications, or if the deal is off due to lack of budgetary approval.

I always dreamt about visiting Japan and Asia, and will definitely apply for a ticket. So, see you girls in Japan next year?

Recently a number of media outlets have publicized reports about ”Japan offering 10,000 free flights to foreigners”. However, this initiative to be carried out from April 2012 onwards is still under examination for government budgetary approval and is at this moment undecided.
If the initiative is confirmed and put into operation, Japan Tourism Agency will officially announce details on this website. To receive instant notifications on this and more related news, join your local Japan National Tourism Organization on Facebook (http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/fb/index.html) now!
Warning: There have been reports in some countries about acts of fraud related to this media report. The Japanese government has not committed to provide free flight tickets to Japan to anybody. Please be careful not to get caught up in this kind of fraud.
Thank you for your warning about possible frauds Mark! We also continue to follow the official website of the Japanese National Tourist Organization for updates on whether the deal goes through the budgetary approval (as mentioned above).
